There is a surprising range and diversity of City Centre Hotels in York for those who are willing to look a little deeper for a unique staying experience.

York is an interesting place to visit and is one of the most diverse regions in the North of England. It is home to a variety of tourist attractions and parks, and the city of York has vast historical sites and national heritage sites, a beautiful view of the countryside with vibrant market towns and small villages sprawling over. This made it one of the most visited places all over England, and you can find a number of lovely hotels in the York city centre. So if you want to pay a visit to this lovely city, here is a list of the City Centre Hotels in York that you might want to consider:

The Ambassador Hotel offers elegantly furnished, and beautifully designed elegant rooms. The hotel is also known for its excellent restaurant that serves some of the best dishes all over York. Set in its own grounds, the Ambassador Hotel was patterned from a beautiful Georgian town house with a perfect background setting.

The Judges Lodging Hotel is ideally located right in the heart of the York city centre. This hotel is listed as a Grade 1 Georgian town house that is filled with several historical interests. The hotel is beautifully furnished and displays several original features that provide excellent accommodation to all guests.

The Hilton York is just located close to the Castle Museum and Clifford’s Tower, and is a modern hotel that offers top-notch class leisure and business facilities. This is where you can find the popular Henry J. Bean’s restaurant.

The Royal York is another hotel that is located in the City centre of York, and is just adjacent to the York railway station. This is a large Victorian hotel that is equipped with 158 rooms and some modern business centers.

The Middlethorpe Hall in Bishopthorpe Road is also a best hotel to stay when you visit York. The hotel is built in 1699 and has a very stylish façade, similar to a grand country house that offers the best facilities, including a health and fitness spa as well as a very beautiful garden.

So, for those people wanting to stay in a simple travel lodge or those wanting to stay in a Georgian boutique the range of City Centre Hotels in York certainly does cater for all tastes and budgets.

The Best City Centre Hotels in York

Maximise  your York City experience by eating out at one of the best City Centre Hotels in York. York City Centre boasts a vast array of overnight accommodation to suit every budget and every taste. From luxurious five star hotels to modest B&B’s there will be something in the City for you.
The City Centre Hotels in York are as varied as they are plentiful. There are many fine high quality modern yet traditional hotels of which I would recommend The Grange, or York Pavilion. There are a number of theme hotels, offering a spooky experience to mirror the age and style of venue such as the Black Swan or the Golden Fleece. If you are looking for a budget hotel with multiple room occupation there are many choices such as Express by Holiday Inn, Travelodge or The Premier Inn.
As you can imagine there are also many familiar chain Hotels in such a popular city, such as Marriott, Hilton, Park Inn, Holiday Inn, Best Western, and Cedar Court. All offering their usual high standards, but there is also an abundance of excellent independent City Centre Hotels in York.
If a traditional check in – check out Hotel room is not your choice, or is out of your budget, why not try one of the many local Bed and Breakfast hotels with offer homely budget accommodation with a hearty English breakfast at very reasonable prices. These tend to be just on the outskirts of the City Centre, but well within a ten minute walking distance form all attractions.
Hints and Tips: To avoid disappointment I would always recommend making a reservation as early as possible for any City Centre Hotels in York. I would also be aware that some hotels only take bookings for a minimum of two nights when the Horse Racing is on. York is a historic City and therefore although unusual some of it’s historic venues are unable to provide for wheelchair access.
